Omega Chronoscope Co-Axial Master Chronometer 43mm

Introduction

Here we have on hand today is the Omega Chronoscope which was release in September 2021. The looks of it was inspired by Omega's biggest hit the Speedmaster with a twist in its snail like dial. The main function of this watch is the tachymeter scale.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Omega brand is the first watch to have a tachymeter scale on its bezel?

With the tachymeter bezel, the scale allows the user to measure the average speed over a certain distance by using the chronograph timer.

Size and Dial

Sized at 43mm, it is slightly abit bigger then the 42mm speedmaster that we are all accustomed to, however it does showcase a much thinner profile.

Compared to a standard matte black lacquer Moonwatch dial, the silver dial and red trackline provides some color pop. The indices on a Speedmaster are printed, whereas the Chronoscope hour markers are applied Arabic numerals The Arabic numerals and the process of applying them by hand, naturally, costs more to produce, they also increase the dial aesthetically.

Bracelet

Featuring an all too similar bracelet, Omega has came up with a new design for their clasps with an easy adjustment. The outer side of the clasp also has a new flushed groove design which personally is pleasant to the eyes. Basically the easy adjustment entails of a pusher which allows you to adjust to a total of 2.3mm which roughly the length of half a link. No tools are needed, all within the push of a button.

Movement

Omega watches are well known for having come with 3 guarantee cards upon purchase. One of them namely the master chronometer certificate which express Omega's pride in having pass a vigourous test. The test demands that the watch keeps a time to +5/0 seconds per day on average and be resistant to magnetic fields of at least 15,000 gauss. After 8 tests, then Omega would be able to proudly deem the watch a master chronometer piece.

The Chronoscope houses Omega’s newest caliber 9908. Displaying a new decoration, where waves start splashing in from the balance wheel. The backcase is fitted with an exhibition caseback in case you feel the need to admire this large movement. Similar to the master chronometer test, movement is also chronometer-certified by COSC.

Ending Thoughts

Branching out from the Omega Speedmaster that all collectors know about, it is a move that i personally did not forsee coming from Omega. Although the dial is abit busy, but the contrast and color palette makes up for it. The look has grown on me and I am inclined to say that it would be a biased opinion as i have always been a sucker for Omega watches.
